Orioles Injuries

With all these Orioles injuries, the O's are struggling early in the season trying to fight through the tough times.

Machado: about to return, the Orioles will have to option an infielder to Norfolk-AAA. Manny will be a big impact to the Orioles, already having good power from Cruz, Young, and others. That leads me to another power-hitter who is sadly injured.

Davis: As many reporters are saying, his return is more important than Bryce Harper. Why? Because there is no other player...

Orioles Projections

Most people have the O's coming in 4th in the AL East, but that would be making them an underdog. Here's why. First of all, with the signings of Nelson Cruz, Delmon Young, Jonathan Schoop, Steve Lombardozzi, Quentin Berry, and more, Baltimore will make the new players welcome. Also with a great mix of experience and youth, Birdland will be buzzing with excitement this season. So here is where they will place this year. Coming in 3rd in AL East behind Red Sox and Yankees. 1. Red Sox 2. Yank... Read Full Post »

Markakis in question for Opening Day

Nick Markakis has made less progress than hopeful in regards to the neck stiffness he suffered a few days ago. As of now, Nelson Cruz is likely in left field. If Markakis does not play, Cruz seems likely to move to right. In left, they could place Steve Pearce or Delmon Young, or even David Lough, who seems least likely do to facing lefty Jon Lester. If you continue to read my blog, you will learn how much I love David Lough. The way he plays the game reminds me a Bryce Harper. Markakis could po... Read Full Post »

The O's need a good closer, because after losing Jim Johnson, they no longer have a good experienced closer.

Some of you may think Tommy Hunter would be a great fit, and I don't disagree. But he doesn't quite have the right stuff to be a closer. They need to sign someone that can be clutch, and post-season material. I don't know who, and I don't think the Orioles do either. But I think that's one thing they will have to do as the season progresses.

Is Patton's Time on the Orioles Over?

Posted by gcbbombers on March 30, 2014 at 10:35 AM Comments comments (0)

Troy Patton will start the season with a 25 Game Suspension for use of PED's at the end of last season.

Patton, along with current big leaguers Zach Britton and Brian Matusz, are out of minor league options and cannot be sent to AAA without clearing waivers, which none are likely to do.  Britton had an impressive spring, with a 0.87 ERA, and Matusz has proved that he is a good young arm out of the pen.  If both do well during the month of April, it will be hard to see Patton f...
